Jack-o-lanterns, skeletons, cobwebs, and more! The black cat is out of the bag: Halloween is right around the corner! We think we can speak for everyone when we say that October 31st
should be a federal holiday. When else can you dress up as your favorite fictional character, or stuff your mouth full with candy, or transform your home into a haunted house?
Unfortunately, as many of us in the workforce already know, Halloween is not a federal holiday. This year, Halloween falls on a Monday which means the usual “case of the Mondays” is going to hit employees extra hard. So, what’s the best way to avoid that? May we suggest busting out the candy corn, dusting off the Halloween mask, and turning up the Halloween jams?
Here at LinkNow, we take Halloween very seriously. We’ve found that spooking up the office with costumes, sweets, and activities is a great way to bring our tight-knit team even closer.
If you’re looking for celebration ideas, we have tons of tricks up our sleeves (and some treats too)! Here is what we’re doing this year:
Can you expect your employees to reach their full Halloween potential without some spooky tunes? If your office environment permits music, don’t fear the reaper – play the classics! - Michael Jackson – Thriller
- The Misfits – Halloween
- Gang Green – Haunted House
- The Rocky Horror Picture Show – Time Warp
- The Lillingtons – Murder On My Mind
- Crash Test Dummies – The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead
- The Living Tombstone – Spooky Scary Skeletons Remix
- Horrorpops – Where They Wander
- The Cranberries – Zombie
- Screamin Jay Hawkins – I Put A Spell On You
- The Exorcist Theme Song
The afternoon slump. We’ve all been there. 3 o’clock rolls around and we’re drowsy, unable to focus, and pooped – but still with so many tasks to complete! An effective way to power through the afternoon slump is with a dose of sugar! This is convenient because candy is what Halloween is all about! Litter your employee desks with decadent treats! Who doesn’t have a sweet tooth?
Halloween is the one day of the year where we can be anything we want, living or dead. This is what makes Halloween so awesome, but this also why many companies are apprehensive about the whole dress up at work thing. Who’s to say what’s appropriate and what’s offensive? If you’re unsure, this infographic
might be helpful. Send out an email informing your employees about the dress code, just as would with everyday office attire. Or, play it safe and go with a theme. Encourage employees to dress up as their favorite emoji.
Here at LinkNow, employees are encouraged to dress up as whatever they please. Those who participate then march around the office, and everyone votes on their favorite costume. The winner walks home with a cash reward!
Games are a fantastic team building activity, and can be used to motivate sales agents. At our office, we spice things up with ghostly activities and wicked incentives. These games not only help to enhance the Halloween atmosphere, but they also yield results:
- Pumpkin balloons – Each pumpkin balloon contains a bonus! Make a deal and pop one!
- Ghost bowling – Put your skills to the test. Roll a pumpkin into bowling pin ghosts for some awesome bonuses!
- Guess How Many Candy Corns – This is one that anyone can play! A classic guessing game with a festive twist!
Whether you want to go all out or add a few touches, there’s no way you can celebrate Halloween without decorating your office.
